মানুষ যে কথাই বলুক, যে তথ্যই প্রদান করুন, তার সাথে সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যাপারে সে নিজের মতকে প্রকাশ করতে পছন্দ করে। এরূপ শব্দগচ্ছকে ইংরেজিতে বলা হয় comment clause। কোনো বাক্যে যা বলা হলো, সে বিষয়ের প্রতি বক্তার নিজের মনোভাব প্রকাশ করার জন্য এরূপ clause ব্যবহৃত হয়। নিচে কিছু comment clause-এর উদাহরণ:

🔸 I regretted that he didn’t take my advice = To my regret, he didn’t take my advice.
(To my regret = I regretted that; regret = আক্ষেপ করা)

🔸 It was surprising that he didn’t get frightened at all = Surprisingly, he didn’t get frightened at all.
(Surprisingly = It was surprising that)

🔸 I was surprised to find them all = To my surprise, I found them all.

📌 Comparing – তুলনা

মনের ভাব প্রকাশের এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ হলো তুলনা। উদাহরণ:

🔸 Not so/as ……as
🔸 Nearly as ……as
🔸 Exactly as ……as

উদাহরণ:

🔸 She is as beautiful as her sister.
🔸 She is not so beautiful as her sister.

একটি বক্তব্যকে আরেকটির সাথে যুক্ত করতে যেসব শব্দ বা ফ্রেজ ব্যবহৃত হয়, তাদের বলা হয় connectives বা transition markers।

তাচ্ছিল্যপূর্ণ প্রশ্ন:

বিরক্তি:

(Note: দৃঢ়তা প্রকাশ করতে shall-এর পরিবর্তে will ব্যবহৃত হয়)

📌 Denial – অস্বীকৃতি

ঘটনার সত্যতাকে অস্বীকার করা:

🔸 She denied having broken the window.

Negative sentence দিয়েও অস্বীকার:

🔸 You went there, didn’t you?
🔸 No. I didn’t.

📌 Direction – দিক/অভিমুখ
